Boyd Gaines has worked as an actor in New York since 1978. He has appeared on Broadway in The Heidi Chronicles (Tony Award), The Show-Off, She Loves Me (Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Awards), Company, Cabaret, Contact (Tony, Lucille Lortel Awards), Twelve Angry Men, Journey’s End (Tony Nomination, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Awards), Pygmalion, Gypsy (Tony, Drama Desk Awards), Driving Miss Daisy, The Columnist, and An Enemy of the People. Off Broadway, his appearances include Spring Awakening, Comedy of Errors for the NYSF Public Theatre; A Month in the Country (Theatre World Award) at the Roundabout; Winter’s Tale, Barbarians, Johnny on the Spot at the Brooklyn Academy of Music; The Double Bass for the Double Image Theatre; The Maderati, The Heidi Chronicles at Playwright’s Horizons; The Shawl at the Jewish Rep; Bach at Leipzig at New York Theatre Workshop; Vikings, The Extra Man at Manhattan Theatre Club; Major Barbara, The Dead 1904 for the Irish Rep; Contact, and The Grand Manner at Lincoln Center Theatre.
Mr. Gaines has worked extensively with regional theatre companies such as: The Kennedy Center, The Guthrie Theatre, Steppenwolf, Yale Repertory Theatre, Baltimore Center Stage, The Long Wharf Theatre, Signature Theatre, George Street Theatre, Hartford Stage Company, Weston Playhouse, Westport Country Playhouse, and The McCarter Theater.
International appearances: Driving Miss Daisy in London’s West End, its Australian tour, and The Piano Upstairs at The Spoleto Festival.
Film credits include: The Goldfinch, No Pay, Nudity, Lovely By Surprise, Second Best, I’m Not Rappaport, Heartbreak Ridge, The Sure Thing, Porky’s, and Fame. Television: One Day at a Time, LA Law, The Confession, Law and Order, Caroline in the City, Frazier, Angela’s Eyes, and Molly Dodd. Mr. Gaines trained at PCPA in California and is a graduate of The Juilliard School where he studied acting with Michael Howard, Michael Kahn, and Marian Seldes.
